The length shown is the length listed by the manufacturer for the size small, but the actual product is a size medium. The length for the medium was just measured and is also approx 24" length from top of shoulder, and the measurement from armpit to armpit is 21". We do have a cat, however the merchandise room is closed off at all times and she has never been inside. I hope this helps!
