Jane Tivol Dichroic Fused Glass Rectangle Tray Platter

Jane Tivol fused glass rectangular tray. A black colored dish with stunning colorful metallic squares and rectangles on the inner portion. The colorful shiny glass Jane Tivol uses is called dichroic glass. Dichroic Glass is a multi layer coating created by melting quartz crystal and metal oxides. The vapor then attaches and condenses onto the surface of the glass, forming a crystal structure comprised of as many as 30 layers of these materials. Her glass pieces are food safe but should not be used in a microwave or put in a dishwasher. I am the original owner of this plate - gifted to me in 2008/2009. Light scuffs/scratch to the black portion from use - see last photo. No chips or cracks. Back of the plate is signed "J. Tivol" and dated 2002.
