Japanese chokin plate with bird & cherry blossom engraving

Beautiful decorative plate made in Japan in the “chokin” style. The description on the back reads: “THE ART OF CHOKIN: Metal engravings from Japan are created by the ancient art of ‘Chokin.’ Gilded with gold and silver, the engravings were originally created to decorate the armament of the SAMURAI worriors [sic]. Made in Japan.” The engraving features a bird (looks like a goldfinch to me) on a branch of cherry blossoms. Plate is 6.5” in diameter
