The plates are named with gem colors of the butterflies painted on them, such as Amethyst or Sapphire. From the First edition on through Eighth edition, it is a complete series called “Jewels of the Flowers” in technique of watercolor where painting on silk in the original artwork inspired these porcelain fired plates. The artist signed and has been numbered on each. Wet painting let’s the shapes and colors appear fluid and spontaneous while precise, setting a tranquil mood. Back stamped, numbered in a limited 150 days firing a standard of excellence by Edwin M. Knowles since 1834. Made in the USA offered through the Bradford Exchange. Mount in kitchen or garden room.
