Released 1961 Roulette (Birdland Series). Often referred to as all time greatest jazz singer. Beautiful deep mellow voice. I'm not heavy into jazz, but this man's music just blows me away. This is one of my absolute favorites. Won 1984 GRAMMY for best jazz singer. 1983 star on Hollywood Walk of Fame. Long associated with Count Bassie Band.
