Sterling silver inkwell inkstand desk set with monogram by John Grinsell & Sons of Birmingham, England, circa 1938. Monogram appears to be ECN Rectangular footed inkstand desk set featuring 2 inkwell bottles each with a hinged lid and 2 concave oval pen receivers. The feet feature a claw design on a ball. Tray and ink bottles feature a classic ribbed edge. Measures approx 9 5/8" long, 7" wide, 1 7/16" high to tray edge. Weighs approx 678g, 436dwt. Marked on tray: J.G. & S (makers mark) anchor (Birmingham city mark) lion (sterling) O (date mark for 1938), also marked on each ink bottle: J.G. & S (makers mark) lion (sterling) O (date mark for 1938), also marked on the interior on each lid: lion (sterling) O (date mark for 1938) Very nice condition, with some light tarnish and slight surface scratching.
