Kirin, also known as Qilin (in Chinese), Kilin (in Japanese), or Girin (in Korean), is a mythical creature that appears in various East Asian mythologies. It is often described as a chimerical creature with the body of a deer, the tail of an ox, hooves, and sometimes scales or a mane of fire. It is said to have a gentle and benevolent nature and is considered a symbol of good fortune, prosperity, and serenity.
In Chinese mythology, the Kirin is one of the four noble animals, along with the Dragon, Phoenix, and Tortoise. It is believed to appear during times of peace and prosperity, heralding the arrival of a wise and just ruler or the birth of a great sage. The Kirin is also associated with bringing blessings and protection to those it encounters.
Tagua, also known as Corozo, comes from a palm-like tree Phytelephas aequatorialis which grows in the rain forests of Ecuador. The tree, whose name means "elephant," thrives along the Napo River between Ecuador and Peru.
