Kralik Glassworks got its start in the early 1800’s but didn’t come to prominence until the Art Nouveau period 1890-1914 when this dynamic vase was created. Kralik didn’t sign most of its glass but all art glass historians agree this line of threaded, iridescent purple vases and bowls are definitely Kralik.
This silky textured Art Nouveau vase is hand blown from a medium purple glass with a peacock iridescence on the outside. It has been completely threaded on the outside which has to be done by hand while the glass is still hot from the furnace.
The vase measures 8.5 inches tall by 5.5 inches wide and is in excellent condition for its age. There are some minor thread losses in a few places and a manufacturing defect on the rim (see photo). It is a gorgeous piece of art glass history.
