The Kigurumi craze (unsurprisingly) originated in Japan, and the word means something like "wearing stuffed toy." They were originally intended as costumes for performers. Fast forward to today, Kigurumis are no longer just costumes but comfy sleepwear. Kigurumis are meant to be baggy and loose for optimal comfort. In addition to this, Kigurumis feature a low crotch and sometimes a hood. CONDITION NOTE: This was worn only once years ago by my son for a high school project on social norms. (He had to jump around a supermarket like a kangaroo, record people's reactions, and present his data to the class. What fun!) It’s been hanging in my closet ever since.
