What is your ruler measuring? It begins below the top of hte bag with a number 2 on the ruler. What are the width and depth? I have seen some similar Kate Spade phone bags that are VERY small and others that seem larger.

@blsklj hello, the tape measure is there to give a sense of the length. The tape measure is unique and begins at apx. 1.75inches because of a holder the white tab fits into; therefore I started below the top to account for the measuring tape design. Hope this helps.
