Keshi Pearl Necklace Iridescent Luster Flat Irregular Shape Round Faceted Glass Beads
- White and natural color Keshi or Biwa pearls with pink shades of metallic iridescence
- Lustrous, radiant coating
- Appears a white coated or waxed thread is used for stringing the necklace
- Multi faceted round glass beads
- Large hook closure
Overall, this is an elegant statement necklace, with a beautiful radiance and design ready to be worn and enjoyed.
- From a vintage jewelry estate sale. The pearls may be Keshi or Biwa stick pearls but I do not know the provenance of this necklace or the exact materials used. My description is from my own research, and visual / tactile evaluation.
The term Biwa was first used exclusively for pearls cultured at Lake Biwa, Japan many years ago. Today the Biwa name seems to include the stick shaped pearls of irregular form with a dimpled / bumpy surface. The pearl sticks in this necklace have the characteristics of Biwa pearls (my opinion) most likely produced in China or another country. This was interesting research for me and am including this information here to provide additional details for your consideration.
