Kigu vintage compact perfect condition!

This is a genuine 1950’s era “Kigu Cherie 58 Series” compact, made in England. It is in unused brand new condition. It was designed for loose powder, which is why you see the extra “screen” that goes below the powder puff: that is called the “sifter” and sits on top of the loose powder so you get just a little powder on your powder puff. It comes with the black silk case made for it. This was my mother’s. It says “Kigu” on the powder puff and “Made in England” on the inside of the black satin carrying case. It is in perfect condition. There might be a slight wear or tiny chip near the place where you would have it engraved with initials. I think that could be fixed when it is engraved. My mother kept it in its satin case in her jewelry box my whole life. I would take it out to pretend to be a grown up at the opera. I just recently discovered the history of this gorgeous compact, and so far I haven’t found one on the internet in an unused condition like this one. I found the Kigu catalog from the time period, which lists this compact as design Cherie 58-08. It was given to women on momentous occasions, such as a 21st birthday or an engagement, and it would be engraved with their initials on the front. It truly is a gem.
