@talialea I wasn't vegan in college, I didn't live on campus, and I almost hate to admit, but I graduated 10 years ago! So I'm sorry, but I have no idea 😕 But I know there were a decent number of vegan students. I'm sure you could find out! And Worcester has several vegan restaurants, so that's good to be nearby!

I love your vegan post! I’ve recently moved from lifelong vegetarian to vegan and I wish more people were aware, or actually opened their eyes to see what happens in the farming/dairy/meat industry and what it does to our environment 😩😡🤯 I’m purging my closet of anything animal related. Best to stand 100%, or at least really, really try! Love your post!!!

@happybeach @happybeach Thanks for sharing. I've only been vegan for maybe a year and a half. I volunteer weekly at a farm animal sanctuary that used to be a 3rd generation working dairy farm. The owners went vegan, gave up their livelihoods, and transitioned into a sanctuary about 20 years ago. I just went to a talk by Jenny Brown who used to go undercover to farms for peta. She talked about what she saw and what she learned about the dairy industry that made her go from vegetarian to vegan.

@happybeach She says the egg and dairy industries are worse than the meat industry in many ways. The worst thing she witnessed was what they do with sick animals who can't climb up onto the slaughter truck... bulldozers and the sound of bones breaking... I'll spare you the details, but I feel nauseous just thinking about it. If everyone had seen the things she saw, or at least knew about it, I think every mentally stable person would go vegan.

@happybeach While I still have some non-vegan products in my home from before I knew better, I no longer purchase those types of things, as long as I'm aware - some things I think we just have no clue about, but it's not about perfection, and I don't stress. I make the best educated choices I can. I buy Michelin tires now! I'm so happy to know you made the compassionate and logical choice to go vegan! 😘

@proverbs_31 very true! I recently did a report (for school) where I compared vegan versus vegetarian and what the difference is to what the animal experiences. While I was aware of some things I wasn’t aware of what needs to go into ducks foie gras. Even more information about calves for veal that I wasn’t aware of, and I thought I was aware of a lot!

@proverbs_31 I’ve been absolutely horrified by the massive increase that went into to dog farms in North Korea for the Olympics. It’s hard to put one animals worth over anothers. I’m in WI where I’m surrounded by farms, even factory farms. My choice in home was determined so I could avoid the highway, exit and roads getting the slaughter trucks to the slaughter house. I just can’t handle knowing that those animals are about to experience confusion, terror and a horrific death.

@proverbs_31 I made eye contact with a cow on one of the trucks once, and even though it may sound silly, I still knew that I was probably one of the last people that cow would see. In Northern WI they have hog/pig wrestling. It’s not outlawed and it horrifies me and upsets me so badly!

@proverbs_31 I can’t wrap my head around people who aren’t compassionate, or refuse to educate themselves on the facts surrounding animal rights. I know people who don’t even want to hear it because they want to continue to eat meat or consume dairy products. I had to learn new recipes and what I liked and didn’t when I forewent animal products, but it wasn’t difficult. You can match flavors and still get the nutrients you need. It’s not a massive change.
