Vintage Castleton Laurel bread plate. Discontinued pattern. Measures approx. 6 3/8 inches in diameter Ivory colored porcelain Beaded scalloped edge, inner gold laurel band Crafted in USA Hand Wash This discontinued mid-century pattern was manufactured between the years of 1950 and 1972. It coordinates well with Castleton's Carlton pattern. Castleton Cina was manufactured in New Castle, PA by the Shenango company. Dwight and Mamie Eisenhower commissioned a set of service plates to augment existing White House china and LBJ and Lady Bird had Castleton manufacture a full set of White House china from a Tiffany's design.Castleton China was a popular choice for brides in the 50's and 60's. The classic designs and quality production are testimony to this American company that is no more.
