LILLY DACHE VINTAGE STRUCTURED TURBAN IN GREEN SILK WITH FABRIC LEAVES AND ROSE

This is one of famous designer Lilly Dache's magnificent and extravagant creations. It is a silk draped turban built on a stiff structure in a pointy oval shape. It is covered by painted fabric leaves and a pale pink fabric rose at the top back. Lilly Daché was a French-born American milliner and fashion merchandiser. She started her career in a small bonnet shop, advanced to being a sales lady at Macy's department store, and from there started her own hat business. She was at the peak of her business career in the 1930s and 1940s. She was one of the most famous American milliners. Label: LILLY DACHE Paris - New York 78 East 78th. Street, NY // Store label: Whitsitts, La Jolla (California) NOTES: Size: Inside circumference measures about 245 1/2", but it fits differently than a regular hat in that it is oval in shape. There is some light soiling on the outside, and some heavier soiling on the inside, plus 2 tiny holes on the inside, as pictured. This would not detract from the magnificence of this creation, but must be noted. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in vintage condition, as noted & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
