So it's one step ladies can figure out, and the rest is up to me if they still need help authenticating.

I just think ppl got to know that no where in the world are you get LV for $175.00 or say Chanel $200 period some things are common sense & you have clearly said in description inspired... @kingjessie55 here is what that Date Code means: TH(France) made in MAY of 2004. REMEMBER - just because the Date Code is VALID does NOT mean the piece is authentic!!

Great listing! In just the past 2 days, I've seen several scammers trying to sell to possible victims. YES I have a a good# of LV's, but in no way, am I saying I'm a pro, I just know what to look for, because I compare them to mine. Like the other day, a girl was selling an "Authentic Nevefull" that had printing on the bottom, inside. Neverfulls do not have printing on the bottom, inside, unless their fake. There's a listing out there right now, where the seller states "the original blue plastic is still on the purse." Plastic NEVER comes home from an LV store, it comes from the factory, and the store takes it off before it goes home with a customer. SMH at people that don't have a conscience.😳

Sometimes I want to jump in and blow it wide open, but I keep to myself and wait for the many who come to me for help. I hate when someone sells a replica as being authentic and literally takes the money and run... So sad. I just hope that people see this post and share it, so as to help protect themselves from the wolves!!

I do the same thing. I don't report, I just warn the interested VICTIM. Helped out the Posher who was ready to buy this supposed Neverfull. Later on in the day, I went back to that listing, and the scammer changed it to replica, so someone must have called her out! Crazy thing is, someone actually traded with that scammer, knowing full well thru all the comments, that she was deceptive. I don't get ppl! 😔

@kal909309 you're right about KNOWING the piece you are looking to buy! I've been authenticating LVs for 20+ years now, and when I bought my very first piece I did all the leg work, background check on the item, all the info I could gather and digest, just so I knew it was authentic. It cracks me up when I see listings with 1 picture only, and there are tons of people saying they will "buy it now", right away, and they haven't even seen enough of the item to tell if it's got tears or missing pieces let alone even being authentic or not!!' CRAZY!!!!

@torialmon from what I can see on the listing, this is called a Mussette GM Cross Body Bag. the Date Code LM 1023 means this: LM(Spain) made in December of 2003-VALID. BUT, if the heat stamp on the inside doesn't say "made in Spain" on the last line, it's not authentic. The leather ring tab looks correct with the material being canvas( not leather in this bag) and the rivet is properly stamped. The interior coloring is correct, BUT I don't see the heat stamp where it should be. The monogram pattern is appropriate from left to right, from top to bottom and diagonally FOR THE PART I CAN SEE. until I see the rest, I can't give you a solid answer, but things look to be favorable so far for this piece.

@torialmon once I see those requested, I'll be able to verify that it's Vachetta leather, that the stitch count is correct on the handles & heels, that the heat stamp matches the Date Code Location, that the pattern aligns from front to back, and that the pipping is correctly placed..... Once these items are verified, you will be all set! I know it may seem like a lot of info is needed - because it is!! There's MORE than just the Date Code that needs to be verified BEFORE its authenticated. 😅Whew, breath!!

@torialmon here's the deal.... The last picture posted I believe is NOT from the same piece!!! There is no stitching of this kind in this piece, and the pic clearly shows what seems to be stitching on 3 sides....NOT ON THIS BAG. maybe she panicked because she couldn't find the heat stamp like I said it was missing from the one picture where it should be, and she snapped a pic of another bags heat stamp! The ONLY Vachetta leather in this piece should be the STRAP, and I can clearly see a portion of monogram canvas to the top right hand corner!! If you wish to continue, i still need to see the handles where they meet the bag with the stitching & hardware. Ask her again for the heat stamp on the inside flap if she can't produce it, this bag is a high quality replica.

@torialmon yeah, I saw that she wasn't jumping to respond to your last requests. Like I said, that last pic doesn't even belong to this bag! I looked at her other 2 LVs, and the Tivoli doesn't appear to have taken time as well as an LV should & does. The bottom line is this, lets hope she responds with the correct pictures.....and any good seller with AUTHENTIC LVs will always post as many pics as possible/ so the bag can be proven to be authentic through the pictures provided!!! As with each of her postings, there is only 1 or 2 pictures provided, not real clear either. I'll wait to hear from you!

@torialmon ....I'm still NOT seeing what I need to see, she is getting VERY frustrated with you also. The patina should have NOTHING to do with reducing the price/ it's more of a badge of honor when it comes to LV, NOT a flaw worthy of a discount!! There are VERY SPECIFIC stitchings for this bag, and although the stitch count is correct across the width of the should strap, there are NO VISIBLE STITCHES just below the leather where it meets the canvas- a specific # of stitches & a specific pattern. I could see a very fine indent on the edges of the leather next to the stitches- which is one of LVs hallmarks, BUT that alone does not make it true Vachetta leather or a true LV. Same thing with the Date Code, she continues to tell you to "look it up"... That is NOT the issue, the issue is that this piece MUST have the heat imprint on the leather flap VISIBLE, AND it MUST MATCH the Location of production!! every pic she has shown of the open flap does NOT show the heat stamp being there. There is NO wiggle room with this piece! It can't be claimed to be Vintage, it can't claim to be one of those older pieces without a heat stamp BECAUSE it has a Date Code.....so you see, there is a circle going here, WITHOUT that heat stamp to match up with the location of production of the Date Code & WITHOUT the specific stitchings this bag is required to have, even though other things appear correct & valid, this bag can NOT be considered as authentic. It's ultimately YOUR choice here, if you do in fact live close to an LV store, they may or may not validate the piece depending on their mood for the day. HOWEVER, once you "trade", I don't believe Posh will go to bat for you if something is wrong. If I was in your position, and if you do live close to an LV store, BUY the bag from the listing and then take it immediately to LV.....but if I was the one looking at this bag, I would walk away because the proof of authenticity are not being shown.

I was just curious to find the code and my inside leather tab doesn't have one. In fact there is no stamp to identify it with my receipt, does this seem strange to you? Would appreciate your input.:)

@nettieward keep in mind mine is from 1999, they may have changed where the Date Code is located since then. You looked on the UNDERSIDE of the leather tag with the heat stamp. If is not on the underside of the tag, it may be inside one of the compartment pockets along the seam. It also might be heat stamped on the underside of the zipper area next to where the cloth lining starts let me know what you come up with, I'll do some double checking & see what I can come up with.

Ugh. I bought a Manhattan GM about a year, maybe more, ago on ebay and never used it, never looked into it. I kind of need to sell if now and the only thing that doesn't really line up is the date code. Its embossed in the pocket but I don't know how I feel about it. The code, I believe it reads CG0026. It looks like the letters 'CG'. What do you think? I took a ton of pics to send to Carol Diva for authentication some time this week. Im nervous...

Also, I recently bought a much older speedy 40 and I can't really find any serial numbers on it anywhere. Not even inside on the tabs where the handles attach. Make sense? The leather tab on the outside that tells you the size underneath has been ripped off. Im pretty sure its a 40 though. I think its bigger than the 35. Just no numbers inside.

@angela8912 the DateCode letters "CG" are NOT VALID- are you sure those are the letters- because "CE"ARE VALID FOR VERNIS & DAMIER, the letters "CB"would be for monogram.... So double check the letters.

@angela8912 if the piece was made PRIOR to 1980's there won't be any Date Code - normally. But here again, the piece will need to meet ALL OTHER benchmarks of authenticity in order to be considered as such.

Never know all these sort of datecode number until I came on to this app and list my bag to sell. Cause I always purchased my bags from the LV store. Until recently ppl are asking me what is the datecode for my bag, that's when I realize how dumb I was. Well i have a multicolor wallet an ex- bf gave to me yrs ago just discovered that it only has one letter and 5 numbers, is that mean is not authentic? @lovetoshop75 As far as the long strap goes, it is an "added" piece/ doesn't mean it's not authentic, however it does add one more item that needs to be authenticated with the bag!

Hi and good afternoon. I purchased a monogram pencil case from another posher and upon receipt of the item, I noticed there was something different with the heat stamp. I noticed that where it states "made in France " the a is different. I was told this piece is Authentic, but I am now questioning the a's and also some sticky residue on the inside interior by the zipper. I am super cautious about purchasing stuff on line, but liked this item . Can you please authenticate ?

@deamerlyn you're going to have to ask her to send you more pics- unable to tell from the few she has listed. The only thing I can tell you is that is appears to be a Speedy made by the French Co. But these along with vintage bags take a bit more to verify its authenticity.

I just thought it was very rude of her to comment on my listing that my purse was a fake. Obviously others who looked at the listing would assume too, unless I could prove her wrong. @acarlos922 Sorry for the delay.... My granddaughter was being born!!💓💕 the wallet is NOT authentic, the heat stamp should be just that - a heat stamp, not "embossed" with color, pattern doesn't line up correctly, and it should have a special stamp because its from a limited collection line

@chanely915 Some do, and most don't, usually now it gets sent out due to the fact that not all Sales Associates are not on the same level of expertise & knowledge of the product. Keeping in mind that LV will ONLY repair authentic pieces- so you could imagine if a rookie Sales Associate repaired the zipper pull on a replica piece, that would be BAD. It's runs along the same lines as some stores will CONFISCATE REPLICAS on the spot- which they are REQUIRED to do, whereas other stores allow the person to leave the store with the replica piece still in possession

@budjatom Both pieces will have a heat stamped date code that runs along the inside side seam close to the top. Get the pieces into good bright light to see it. If you still can't see it- add a bit of baby powder & shake, then lightly wipe it out with a DRY cloth you'll see it for sure!! The wallet will have the code inside one of the pockets.

HOWEVER, just because it's a valid date code does NOT mean the piece is AUTHENTIC !!! Of you are looking at it on posh- WITHOUT using the "@" sign list the sellers closet & what piece you are looking at. If it is somewhere else please emAil me with a LOT of detailed pictures: tsteele872@aol.com

@madilowe Yikes. I personally would NOT buy a high ticket item from someone who has only 1 listing OR only 1 high ticket item listed even if they have 25 items in their closet. It's not very reassuring to me. The ONLY way Posh will protect you & stand by you is if the purchase is made through posh- not pp or "off line"

I have a question for you, will a like bag ever have a same date code? I have an ILLOVO in my closet and it feels just like my other authentic bags and looks exactly right, but somebody found the exact same bag and date code on another site and I don't think they stole my pic? Weird! I don't want to mis-lead anyone! Would you have a look?

Ok, to answer your question about the date codes possibly being the same in exact pieces is YES, think about why- the code signifies Where it's made/ there are thousands upon thousands of pieces made in the SAME location, and the dates represent either the month or week and the year/ again there are thousands upon thousands of pieces made the same time & same year.

@annie15 If you provide the buyer with as many detailed pictures as pissible, the pictures can then be sent to someone to Authenticate the piece. If the buyer knows LV products well, they will be able to validate the item through detailed pictures

I really didn't think I would ever want to sell or have a reason to "prove" they are authentic. But I do keep everything now! I think you are such a great person to help out poshers. @tsteele872 OMG you are a life saver!!!!! My favorite posher by far!!! I am 21 years old and my kind, sweet boyfriend wanted to spoil me this august on my birthday. He got me a Gucci soho patent leather and a Louis Vuitton tivoli from eBay. Everything has tags/receipts/date codes. However, the Gucci purse had me worried for a day because of the tag on the bag. Then after some research, I noticed that many on eBay had the same tag so I mass messaged them all and already got a few matching stories. The seller told me she got it from Saks.com and so did all the rest so far. That has calmed me a bit but you TRULY don't know if it's real unless an expert checks it out. I don't know if you are familiar with Gucci bags but it would be awesome if you could authenticate it as it's coming today and the tivoli. He paid a lot of money for it and your help would be immensely appreciate !!!! ❤️❤️
