@elfgirl99 Hi there! Well it's adjustable in the back up to 5"+...36 is the measurement of material across with the boning. There is not much variation between the bust and waist as it is pretty straight up and down. When you first put it on, loosen the lacing in the back alot! Then you can make bust and waist gathered to the tightness perfered. it was worn as a compression garment back in the day. Hope that helps!
