Jasper is microcrystalline variety of quartz, or a silicon dioxide mineral with a hardness of 7. The name jasper means spotted or speckled stone. Jasper comes in many colors, red, yellow, green, brown and blue. Polychrome Jasper, also known as Desert Jasper, represents the earth and is a grounding stone that promotes stability and balance in life.
