@artistlady62 Owning another Bison, or two would be great. My grandfather just passed and the item that I asked for was his collection of coins in a tiny jam jar. They will have their own place in a coin book, pretty soon, with his name on it. This item would be great, but I don't know how to display, without ruining the point of an uncirculated proof. Funny thing, I have never owned one before. But I used to sneak into a top drawer of a dresser in the room that I'd stay in...

...at my grandparent's house to admire my grandfather's collection of uncirculated proof coins. Every single stay. Until, one day, they were gone. It is kind of a mystery as to where those proofs had gone to. I imagine that they were sold. When I had asked about the proof coins, I was denied of their very existence. Maybe I'll create a drawer for my descendants...? Haha.

@reallookersc Sorry to hear about your grandpa. It's always hard to loose anyone.
My grandpa died in 1992. My other gpa, I never met because he died before my dad met my mom.
I'll bet there's coin books for uncirculated coins, then you could just transfer them to the book. They'd be better protected because they wouldn't be on top of each other.

@artistlady62 Thank you. It has been a hard year. Nothing that I can't handle. But July was a crapshoot. My family and I got viruses, right before, as well as, right after his passing. That was the whole dern month of July.
As for the coin book, are you suggesting that I'd take them out of their original packaging?
Peace,
Ellen
P.S. -- I think that when things were tight with my grandparents, he sold most of his collection. The "important ones", anyhow. At least, that's my theory...

...I have yet to go through his mini-collection. I don't, really, know what is in that jar. I am kind-of inspired to see what is in there today... Maybe he "kept the best"...? There are foreign coins in there, as well.

@artistlady62 His collection is comprised of, mostly, foreign coins. I only know enough about them to scratch the surface. But there is an important American nickel in here, somewhere... A 1960 nickel. I want to know his purpose behind his collection... Were these "special", or "leftovers"?
Peace,
Ellen

@reallookersc Who knows, you may have a "money maker" in there!
There's a coin app I use called Coinsnap. It can help you ID coins and get general info. Probably best to take to a coin dealer...where I got my coins...to REALLY find out what they're worth. There may be errors on the coins which will raise their value

You can get coin folders at Hobby Lobby or on line

@artistlady62 Thanks for the input. I will definitely check out the app. I've been using YouTube videos from "the know-it-alls". Haha.
As far as my grandfather's collection goes, I want to keep his collection as a "pristine collection" (no coin out of place) as well as keep it separate from my own collection. It means so much more than a regular collection of coins. For some reason, he saved "those ones". But what I will do, is save it...

Ellen

...for me. His collection may come in handy as a retirement fund.
