loulou2125 @hlklein76 they are pockets!! They just lie flat on the bag so there is not a snap to close them but you can definitely put small things in the front two pockets! Also adds dimension to the bag!

loulou2125 @soartsy the bag is about 15 inches wide and the entire body and strap are approximately 21 inches. The body portion is just about 10.5 inches long!
