Lilly Daché Slim Vintage Diagonal Stripe Wool Blend Tie

VTG wool blend necktie by Lilly Daché. Tie in a very good pre-owned condition. No fabric tag. Lilly Daché should be a household name; she's certainly renowned in the fashion world. From France, initially, she immigrated to the US and became a milliner at a small hat boutique called The Bonnet Shop on Broadway in the 1920s. Her first hat was made from left over scraps and was purchased as soon as it was displayed. It only went up from there. She eventually worked as a sales woman in Macy's to expend her career, but she quickly returned to buy out The Bonnet Shop and launch her own line. Her hats are exquisite and her work is exceptional and once she moved her shop to the upper west side, she quickly found herself outfitting the likes of Katharine Hepburn, Marlene Dietrich and Elenor Roosevelt; expanding to accessories such as ties was a natural step. She retired in 1968 but her work can be found at the MET as well as various other museums and fashion houses, and in the private collections of fashionistas the world over.
