This t-shirt, released on behalf of the Artists Rights Society, depicts a full panoramic view of from one of the most iconic artists in history, whose style heavily influences modern art ‘till this day. “The Disintegration of the Persistence of Memory,” was painted by renowned artist Salvator Dali in the post WW-I era but released in the early 1950’s; an era of mass-realization that humankind is capable of both wonderful & horrible things. A time of fear and uncertainty. A time of scientific breakthrough so immense, it both eradicated infant mortality, as well as entire Japanese cities. Dali is known as a primary spreader of surrealism; where we are both aware-of yet objectively unsure of what the future will hold. Despite this uncertainty, surrealism as an art and cultural movement aims to cope with the oppressions of life, by attempting to find intellectual revelations through the nature of our own being; expressed in the form of art. Surrealism can be viewed as one of the earliest forms of counter-culture in recorded history.
This shirt was purchased at the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, which holds some of the most wondrous, thought-provoking work of Dali as well as numerous other works by Dali-Inspired artists and associates. It was sold for a limited time during a Summer exhibit at the Dali Museum in 2022. It has barely been worn, is sized large but is a slim-fit that will fit best on those who teeter on medium - large t shirt size. A unique piece of familiar art.
