We are thrilled to introduce the G-SHOCK Ref. 5600 By Ben Clymer. This is a watch designed for the Hodinkee community by none other than the guy who started it all. You’ll see some nods to some old divers, some colors belonging to the Hodinkee LE family of old, and a few Easter eggs that tie in some of the watches I love the most. On the caseback, I borrowed a Latin saying from a man named Henry Graves, Jr., the great American collector – you know, the guy who commissioned the Supercomplication, and according to some, really saved Patek Philippe and the whole Swiss watch industry. It reads Esse Quam Videri, which translates as “To be, rather than to seem.” It’s a slogan that has stayed with me from the first time I heard it over 13 years ago and one by which I try to live my life.
