@msleslied1 the pouch seems pretty sealed to me. I've never tried to open them. They're really cool and I only have a couple of necklaces with the leather pouch. I should have bought more when I had the opportunity. The trade beads are from the mid 19th century and were made in Venice. The history is pretty cool. I really had fun making these necklaces. I'll be posting more in the next few days. Happy Friday!!

@msleslied1 I should name my closet Miss Kitty's Corner. She loves being wherever I am.

So "Miss Kitty Mom: I am so glad I asked because I have just been all over Ethiopian trunk beads online and learned so much. You must have had a great trip in Africa...I am going next year and believe me, I will buy beads beads beads...still not sure what "trunk" means, but I read about the history and looked at hundreds and hundreds of them. What fun to string them yourself...wow wee...fun fun.. When did you go? Leslie

@msleslied1 So.... My trip to the Tucson Gem and mineral show was awesome. Sadly I've never been to Africa. I've been wanting to go forever. One of these days hopefully. Found this about skunk beads. https://www.thebeadchest.com/collections/skunk-beads/ethiopia

That site you sent to me is exactly where I was looking..isn't that funny...I got a good laugh when you said go to it...thank you so much..how sweet of you...I bet the prices in Africa are so so good....to be right where these women are making..I know there are hundreds of thousands of antique, but I'm sure they are making them on a daily basis and still using them for trade....They are so beautiful with their faces all painted up....how interesting to be born so differently than us...

I am hoping to meet some tribal people that speak english if there is such a thing...my favorite thing about traveling is the different places we are all born..we don't pick..we just pop up and so do they....What do I know, I was born in CA...its all so interesting and exciting to me...but bead buying will happen with hopes of sitting in a circle!!
msleslied1
Hey your closet is killer be the way
shellyhernandez
@msleslied1 I would love to go with you!! It sounds like a wonderful trip. I would want to sit in the circle and learn about beads and I would like to be outside the circle taking pictures of women being women in other cultures.

@msleslied1 Thanks. I have a lot more. I was the SM for Fendi in Aspen and the AGM for Prada in Aspen several years ago. Sadly, I don't wear this stuff anymore. Where in CA are you from? I grew up in the O.C.
