Louis Rousselet Art Deco 1920s-1930s Vintage French Diamanté Rondelle Collar

Gorgeous, rare, diamanté art deco era necklace by French parurier Louis Rousselet. Rondelles of colorless prong-set rhinestones, strung on a foxtail chain, with a hidden rhinestone barrel clasp. About 16 inches in length; my own neck is smaller than my mannequin’s, so on me this lays lower, between my collar bones. Stunning piece from a really exceptional maker. Rousselet created costume jewelry for several of the French couture houses (his work for Chanel is probably best known, but he also produced jewelry for Balenciaga, Dior, Lanvin, Schiaparelli, etc.), pieces for the performers of Moulin Rouge, Casino de Paris, and les Folies Bergères, as well as a line of jewels under Maison Rousselet’s own name. Given the design and components, I suspect this is one of his couture pieces, though I’m not sure who it was made for.
