The bag was part of a collaboration between Japanese artist Takashi Murakami and Louis Vuitton, which began in 2002. The collaboration resulted in a series of collections, including the Monogram Multicolor collection in 2003, Cherry Blossom in 2003, Panda in 2004, Cerises in 2005, Monogramouflage in 2008, and Cosmic Blossom in 2010.  The Multicolore Speedy was a popular and beloved bag that became a trademark of early 2000s fashion. The bag featured a rainbow monogram of 33 colors on black or white canvas. It was discontinued in 2015, but remains sought after in the resale market.  The Takashi Murakami Speedy is a limited edition bag. The Monogram Multicolor line was discontinued by Louis Vuitton in 2015, but the brand revived the iconic multicolored motif in 2024 to celebrate Murakami's artistry.  note: price will go up next year in 2025
