Is there’s a code ? Does the straps come off ?
rmt1119
@14ellie17 hi there! I don’t have a code because I don’t have the receipt anymore. The strap does not come off!
stylebytory
@rmt1119 I have the same one ... You can tell people that the strap fit into the bag so it can worn as a clutch:)
nhlyndsey
Authentic LVs have a code inside the bag somewhere I thought
rmt1119
@nhlyndsey inside no- I have multiple bags from Louis and they don’t have codes- Chanel does
nhlyndsey
@rmt1119 you may want to take a look at this
https://www.labelsluxury.com/pages/louis-vuitton
rmt1119
@nhlyndsey I will look when I get back to my home I don’t have one in my bag I currently have sitting next to me which I bought a few years ago from Louis. Your more than welcome to call the person I know by text and phone who can tell you every bag I have bought. I only own bags that I have bought from Louis Vuitton along with all of my clothing is authentic. I have sold numerous items and I will report someone if you are questioning my authenticity.
rmt1119
By the way the bag you sold on your closet is pure fake. No one sells locks inside and the stitching is never a different color.
nhlyndsey
@rmt1119 I’m just seeing this from August. This is quite hilarious because A)I didn’t sell the bag.
nhlyndsey
@rmt1119 oops, got cut off. Anyway, A)it’s a sold, but I didn’t end up selling it to the woman. You just can’t see that because I decided I wanted to keep it because I like it.
nhlyndsey
@rmt1119 B) I bought it from Poshmark and they authenticated it so basically you’re telling me that they’re frauds too.
nhlyndsey
@rmt1119 C) I have no idea what you’re talking about as far as reporting someone. I simply shared an article with you. I thought you might want to look at no one‘s accusing anyone of anything. I have no idea where you got the bag for all I know you got scammed too, I was simply trying to help And D) if you think I’m so awful, why did you offer me a discount on this bag that you’re trying to sell?
rmt1119
@nhlyndsey I just offered to everyone that liked it. Second I haven’t been screwed when you buy directly from Louis. Have a great day.
nhlyndsey
@rmt1119 no you haven’t, but until you wrote that I had no idea that you buy everything in your life straight from them. Some people really are just trying to help.
clairegeorge998
@nhlyndsey she may not be aware of the date codes on LV bags
clairegeorge998
@nhlyndsey and this bag definitely should have one since it’s newer than the ones without the date codes made In the 80s/early 90
nhlyndsey
@clairegeorge998 agreed
rmt1119
@clairegeorge998 and where would this be
rmt1119
Nevermind I provided it in the last picture it is “embossed directly on to the bag”
clairegeorge998
@rmt1119 oh yes so on the last pic, you see the “Louis Vuitton made in France” that is called the heat stamp, this is part of what is looked for when a bag or item is being authenticated. The other part would be the date code which is two letters followed by four numbers, unless it’s a vintage bag - when they first started adding the date codes it was not 4 but 2 numbers and then grew to 4
clairegeorge998
@rmt1119 please look in my closet , find the Louis Vuitton eclipse bag I have listed and see the date code . Yours is probably on the inside along a seam, it’s usually hidden (sometimes so well that I couldn’t locate it !).
clairegeorge998
@rmt1119 it’s also not in the same place for every variation of bag. Yours has a leather lining I believe, so it shouldn’t be that hard to find if you’re looking. The other thing g they look at when authenticating is the hardware, which usually is embossed/stamped/engraved, etc
rmt1119
@clairegeorge998 thank you for explaining! I never knew!
rmt1119
@clairegeorge998 my bag has nothing like yours and none of my bags do and I have my receipts from Louis. Also your bag should have one continuous piece of fabric or leather banding. I also have luggage bags and roller bags with receipts and nothing has numbers.
I work in high fashion and with the amount of bags I have haven’t seen this.
I have sold over 150 items all authentic and all right from my personal closet. Thanks for the insight but after reading up on it, fakes have numbers.
rmt1119
Also I would take that bracelet off your closet because it’s fake. It is not authentic.
rmt1119
Excuse me shoulder strap.
clairegeorge998
@rmt1119 you’re absolutely right ! I even purchased a fake right here on poshmark (this was way before I started having anything authentic in terms of luxury ), but those codes don’t show up on the date code search either . But hey , potentially yours was when they didn’t use date codes or potentially you’re not seeing it. But anyone that has even a little fluency in Louis Vuitton can verify that they should have date codes
clairegeorge998
@rmt1119 unless it wa s made in the last 2/3 years, they started doing electronic microchips just recently. I correct myself on the dates because actually it didn’t start in the early 90s, date codes started in the early 80s
clairegeorge998
@rmt1119 Before 1982 Louis Vuitton did not use date codes prior to 1982. 82- Mid 1980s, LV began utilizing 3- or 4-digit codes to show the year and month in which the product was made. The initial two numbers show the year, and the 1-2 numbers show the month. In the Mid – Late 1980s The first two numbers show year, the last 1-2 numbers show the month, followed by the country.
clairegeorge998
@rmt1119 1990 – 2006: The date code system was changed in the early 90s. The letters showing the country code were moved to the front of the date code. The first and third number indicate the month, and the second and fourth represent the year.
clairegeorge998
@rmt1119 2007 – present (2021) The format of the numbering system was changed yet again in 2007. The week is now represented instead of the month of manufacturing. After the country code loetters, the first and third number indicate the week, and the second and fourth number indicate the year.
And since then : the microchip date code
clairegeorge998
@rmt1119 shoulder strap? I don’t believe I have a shoulder strap listed? I always use the paid authentication services , that are trained by each manufacturers, before I list anything ! so if it’s listed , it’s authentic .
clairegeorge998
@rmt1119 Thank you for looking out , how gracious of you to try to help me identify something counterfeit in my closet. please show me!
I absolutely want to know because I have the certificate of authentication on file for each item so if it’s not authentic then the retailer
I got it from has some explaining to do lol !
I don’t (knowingly) have anything counterfeit but I am human; so thank you for your help!
clairegeorge998
@rmt1119 @wlovefrommt hey my friend. Could you read these comments and verify - am I right ? Date codes aren’t on every authentic LV bag and some LV bags that aren’t authentic have date codes lol !! But there’s some
That are quite hidden and don’t show to the naked eye esp if it’s vintage (this one looks quite vintage but it’s hard to know for sure without the date code) and is heat stamped at a seam deep inside
clairegeorge998
@rmt1119 but I’m not saying this purse isn’t authentic ! I was explaining to the other commenter that maybe the seller just isn’t aware of the codes . Didn’t mean it in opposition. I was trying to help
