The city had just built the first theater in the world. As the first actors stepped onto the stage that April afternoon, they were wearing masks. Contrary to popular belief, these masks did not portray emotion but rather different characters. The mask portrayed with these earrings, which are symbols of the theater today, are a tribute to the ancient Greeks favorite types of theater which were comedy and tragedy.
