Lyngby Glass Decanter Art Deco Danish Holst og Knudsen with Etched Grape Design and Black Flared Foot and Stopper Vintage 1940s
A relatively obscure and hard to find (in the USA) Art Deco carafe. It has a ball-shaped body in clear glass with etchings of three bunches of grapes and four leaf vines on the body. Black glass stopper, foot and attached handle.
Measurements:
6.5" D x 5" W x 8" H (w/ stopper), ~18.3 oz
Condition:
Pretty good vintage condition with several fleabites observed on the base rim of the stopper, along with two small scuffs on the side of the handle and a noticeable scuff on the underside. These do not detract significantly from the appearance of the carafe. Additionally, a white residue or film is present on the inner bottom, likely from previous use. Normal wear for age and use. Please see all photos.
About Lyngby Glass:
The company mainly imported and sold glass pieces from 1924 to 1942, but in the period 1942 to 1944 had its own glass factory in Lyngby, where the production was marked with an "HK" mark for Holst og Knudsen. The factory closed in 1969.
