FRANK MORENO HISTORY
-Compiled from Worthpoint and other collectible websites
Frank Moreno Pottery operated from 1940-1960 in Southern California and is known for bright, vivid glazes. He loved color, and each piece was designed individually.
Frank Moreno is a descendant of Frank E. Brown, who named Moreno Valley in California. In the early 1900s, Frank E. went broke. The younger Frank eventually changed to Moreno, which means brown in Spanish.
Moreno threw each piece of pottery on a homemade wheel and fired it in a kiln. His early pottery was signed by hand with "Frank Moreno" or "Moreno" in capital letters. Later in his career, he added "Ceramics" to the mark. When he developed arthritis, he began impressing his marks and using molds. He passed away in the early 1980s.
