This retro 1960s Kenwood USA lava glaze ceramic pair of matching ashtrays features a mid-century modern design with a black and pink color scheme. Their shapes and all-over visual & tactile texture of the 2-step “lava glaze”make them unique for any indoor or outdoor space.
Measuring 11” dia, x 2.5”H, this huge handmade ashtray is an original statement piece!! In the mid-20th century era (1941-1969) smoking was cool and promoted as a healthy way of style and life…. thus some great ashtray designs arose. It has a center “hill” with reservoir and 22 cigarette “wells” or cradles - all swathed in ballet pink!
The backstamp is “Kenwood # 2125 USA. There is a chip, just under an inch long, on the bottom rim exposing unglazed pottery. Aside from that, there are little pinspot craters in the glossy pink glaze, naturally occurring. You will also note, there are 2 cracks near one another on the rim of the face. See photos - in great shape considering it’s over 70 years old!!
The smaller rectangular ashtray is 4.75”L x 3”W x 1.5”H. It has 6 cigarette wells or “cradle” areas in matching ballet pink. 1 small chip at outer edge but in otherwise Excellent condition! It is back stamped “Kenwood # 2122 USA” .
