VINTAGE AUTHENTIC NAVY PEACOAT
KERSEY DARK BLUE E/M Size 38R
Excellent Used Condition
for 1960’s vintage.
This authentic 1960s vintage Navy Peacoat
has the number DSA-1-4825 which
dates it to 1965when DSA numbers had no dating suffix.
DSA stands for Defense Agency Supply
It has the classic 6 visible 8 button double breasted
front with the Navy anchor embossed buttons and
high quality kersey wool fabric that kept the sailors warm on the high seas.
A double-breasted, hip length coat made of dark blue
100% Melton wool fabric with a convertible collar,a set-in pocket in each forefront,
and a single row of four 35-line
black plastic anchor buttons down
the right front and three on left.
Men's peacoat buttons to the right.
The size is 38R.

It does have some moth minimal damage.

The US NAVY adopted the peacoat from their British counter-parts.
The coat was used for 'reefers' who were sailors responsible
for the somewhat unpopular task of climbing up the
rigging of naval ships. Between the Dutch, British
and American naval forces the
peacoat kept its wind resistant form and shape.
