This tried and true vintage 70s Misty Harbor trench coat holds it down with clean lines and subtle yet classic details. The long and lean silhouette has buttoned storm flaps on the front, a stand-up collar, slight shoulder pads for a sharp shape, tabs at the cuffs (not adjustable), pockets of course, and gold button accents throughout. Misty Harbor is an imprint of the Blair Clothing company.
In 1910, John Blair was approached by a classmate in law school about becoming a sales manager for a raincoat company. He took a suitcase full of raincoats along on his travel back home for Easter vacation and approached shops along his route home. He was not very successful because shops were not enthusiastic about stocking a sizeable inventory of an unproven product. He came home only selling one raincoat...to an undertaker for personal use. Despite selling one coat only, he borrowed $500 and mailed 10,000 to undertakers around the country.
The New Process Rubber Company was the result. In the ensuing years, the market would change and new varieties of cloth and materials would be incorporated as they were introduced to the marketplace. The Misty Harbor ladies' coats would be introduced, and the imprint is still being used today.
For a time, the Jonathan Logan company designed the Misty Harbor raincoats.
