Majorica “Rosa”Pearls w/ case + certificate. 28” L, 7mm Pearl size. Excellent

Beautiful Majorica Rosa 7mm, 28” pearl strand necklace with a pretty decorative clasp made of 800 silver, a tiny Pearl and rhinestones. The necklace also has a safety chain. The pearls were originally purchased in 1969 and are in excellent vintage condition. These pearls are called Rosa but rather than appearing pink, having a warm white and or ivory tone as is shown in the photos. Includes certificate of guarantee and original case. From Wikipedia: Majorica is a Spanish company that manufactures imitation pearls called Majorica pearls. Now based in Majorca, the company was founded in 1890 in Barcelona. In 1990, Gems & Gemology described Majorica pearls as "the most widely marketed and meticulously manufactured imitation [pearl] today". Majorica Pearls are made from small marine animal particles and guanine crystals extracted from scales on the undersides of certain fish. The tiny artificial core is repeatedly immersed into this mother-of-pearl mixture, then taken out and dried, over and over again, up to 40 times.
