rjrkbythebay @glamazonisme thank you so much! They are a huge part of my life and we have had them since the 70s. I am on the Board of Directors of the Vizsla Club of America. We participate in show, field, rally, agility, dock diving, obedience, and almost any other dog sport you can think of! LOL 😂 our kennel name is Willorunn Vizslas.

glamazonisme You are so lucky, they are a privilege to own. Your are that dark red just striking! My line was off of Arcos Arco. Haven't had them for many years with the exception of rescuing one, my kids were so happy. But comparison, to my old line or your beauties, he was a mutt Vizsla 😂

rjrkbythebay @glamazonisme Wow! That name rings a bell and likely was related to Nikkis Arco? I think my friend Pam Hidaka's dogs might have gone back to that dog as well. She lives in Washington state. You are right that they are an amazing breed! So regal and smart but require quite a bit of physical and mental exercise.

glamazonisme Yes, many years ago I was a young girl we had that line since I was 4 to 18. Im 51 now so its been a family tree long past now. But love the breed which are still rare 😉😁

rjrkbythebay @glamazonisme thank goodness they have stayed fairly rare. They are definitely not the breed for everyone, they need to much time and attention for an average pet owner. If they ever become super popular I expect it could change the breed negatively, like what happened to cocker spaniels in the 80s and labs in the 90s. If you ever decide you want another one I know people all across the country that breed and or work with rescue groups (often both).

rjrkbythebay @glamazonisme they can always use Fosters! My friend Karen Lake, Moonlight Vizslas, helps with rescue in California. If you look up her website there is contact information and she would love to hear that you would be willing to foster a dog periodically or possibly adopt the right one if it comes along.

pinotgrigiogirl @rjrkpt I have a rescue mix that we think has some V. Very velcro, very sensitive, total love. We go back and forth between Vizsla and Rhodesian when people ask us what he is. Either way he's my precious and very unique baby. I'll post a pic. Maybe you could tell me what you think?

tinkerrn Oh my goodness beautiful vizslas ! My daughter used to owner handler her baby and I had a handler Donny cocker spaniel this is several years ago. She still has a vizsla but now we all her - myself and my mom who hasn't had a dog since I was 8 and I'm 49 ! We all have the cavalier King Charles spaniels. But oh what memories this picture reminded me of ! Her and I cross country doing dig shows. They were our pets. So it was an expensive hobby ! 😘

rjrkbythebay @tinkerrn Oh wow! Small world 🌎 Vizslas are the best! I've been showing since I was 7. My mom, my daughter and I all show our dogs (plus we do field trials, agility, hunt tests and other stuff with them). My daughter is an amazing handler! I'm so proud of her. She won the Westminster Best Junior handler award in 2012 (her goal from 9 yrs old). Now in college but also works FT as a handler's assistant.

rightwhite @rjrkpt my aunt was actually a board member I believe for the vizsla club of America and she bred them for a while. My dad’s vizsla, Olivia Newton John (Oli) was, for a dog, the love of his life. I still get my dad the vizsla calendars every year for Christmas.

rjrkbythebay @rightwhite What a small world! I might know your aunt. My mom is a past-president of the Vizsla Club of America and I am currently on the Board of Directors! Our kennel name is Willorunn Vizslas. We have been selectively breeding since the 80s. We only breed every 1-2 years, but I often refer people to other breeders who anticipate having puppies.

rjrkbythebay @rightwhite Oh wow! Yes I definitely know her name and her legacy of breeding wonderful dogs (Arra Vizslas). She was awarded a lifetime membership with the VCA. I believe her husband at the time (Jim?) was also on the BOD in the 70s. One of her old dogs is in the background of my current Vizslas!

I am guessing they do not belong to the Vizsla Club of America or I would have likely met them (if the names on the web is correct, Paul and Michelle?) My kennel name is Willorunn (willorunn.com). 3girlstrending @rjrkpt they belong to AKC, not sure about the vizsla club. They have a very long and good lineage in all their welps. He is just a family dog. I had one growing up and she was a doll. So I trusted the breed with my family.

klosetklearance Beautiful dogs! I rescue dogs from Death Row in “shelters”, AKA: Kill Camps. So many, so many . . get drug down the hall to the euth room. They know. They can smell it. We can’t keep up w the massive number of breeders 😢 25-30% of dogs in shelters are purebreds. It’s bizarre, bc they honest to God just know you saved them. They’re overflowing w joy & gratitude. Some are 💔 broken from abuse or not being socialized, which is where I come in. I train, counter-condition & rehabilitate. 😊

rjrkbythebay @klosetklearance Thank you <3 I work with Vizsla Rescue in VA/MD (via Conestoga Vizsla Club and I'm on the BOD for Vizsla Club of America). Luckily it is rare for purebred Vizslas to be found in shelters. ALOT they "call" Vizslas are Pit or Ridgeback mixes. I educate the public about what makes a breeder reputable (the ones who will take a dog back for any reason for its entire life so it could never end up in a shelter). The average person just wants a dog "NOW" and don't do any research :(
