This was created by Manuel Cuevas aka the “Rhinestone Rembrandt.”
Manuel Cuevas, who famously designed clothing for Nudie Cohn, is credited with dressing Johnny Cash in all black when he first started designing him clothing in the 1950s.
Manuel is the protege of Nudie, and at one point was Nudie’s son-in-law, before busting out on his own. Manuel operates a beautiful store in Nashville, and makes clothes for basically every singing star. He designed the “steal your face” logo for the Grateful Dead, he also used to make shirts for Salvador Dali and was the person who convinced Johnny Cash he was “the man in black.” Manuel got his start as an 8 year-old in Mexico stitching together prom dresses for the neighborhood girls.
