NOT FOR SALE JUST AN AUTHENTICATION GUIDE
any purchases will be cancelled unless stated otherwise.
Please read the full guide, “like” to save for future reference, and beware of fake bags :)
This took me a little over an hr to put together, so please let me know if you’d like any in-depth pictures of my own personal snapshot bag for me to upload for authentication purposes.
The last photo is a authentication certificate for my SECOND bag I purchased on Poshmark deeming that bag “real”

Thank you, I just bought one… in another page, and I think is fake. This will be so much helpful for me when it arrives.

@anitaquinterob you’re welcome. Don’t forget to “like” the guide so you don’t lose it when you receive the bag! If you’re still skeptical of the bag, I paid $15 from this authenticator company to authenticate it in under 24 hours so I feel like it’s more of a reasonable price compared to others :))

@leexin this is an excellent start however some of the real bags say just Marc Jacobs on the interior patch. Thought I would throw that in. So I would not base real or fake off that. There’s a ton of other factors that once it’s in your hands you can tell. I wouldn’t trust any of these authenticity experts cause I see fake after fake on here with those certificates.
leexin
@brooklynbski that’s true but I’m still iffy on the patch since I haven’t found any listings with receipt or department store sticker that just say “Marc jacobs” so better safe than sorry. You cannot always tell if it’s fake when you recieve it in your hands as I had one in my hands that was fake and compared that one to my real one before shipping it back and the details were miniscule. The “leather quality” appeared the same, the fact that both had engravings on the metal were the same.
leexin
@brooklynbski I’m by no means sponsored by legit grails and don’t normally trust authenticators either but when I read the individual reviews on their company and tested it out myself they turned out to be right so I thought I’d throw in that they’re more of a “reliable” authenticator than many other alternatives :)
brooklynbski
@leexin the funny thing is a lot of these fakes are posh ambassadors. Their entire store consists of fake everything. Be Leary as well when a seller has 5 of a sold out color. I just wouldn’t buy a snapshot on here at all. End of season you can get from an authorized dealer for 200.00 or less and not worry about it.
leexin
@brooklynbski 100% agree. You may get lucky on here but for the most part it’s swarmed with fakes. The seller that sold me one had multiple in the same color way and a ton of others on her page and presented me with a “Japanese” reciept to prove authenticity. Personally while I know it’s a “law in Japan to not sell fakes, technically that’s a “law” everywhere but it doesn’t stop people from doing it so I call bs on the Japan receipt thing
brooklynbski
@leexin was it an ambassador? I just can’t believe that Poshmark let’s this go on. A Japanese receipt omg! Now I’ve heard it all! They will go to any lengths to sell their garbage. Well good for you getting your money back. Most people here don’t find out fast enough.
leexin
@brooklynbski yes! she was a posh ambassador. Her username is michelleia769 (I won’t tag her but that’s the username) she has so many bags on her page and I’m pretty sure all are fake. There was even a little bit of fading on my hang tag which made me personally skeptical of the bag and look into it further. She claimed it was a “reliable department store” in Japan but I just wasn’t buying it (pun intended lol)
leexin
@brooklynbski Poshmark did however take almost a week to finally make a decision compared to 1-2 days like they have in the past for me, and I presume it’s because her “Japanese reciept” helped her in the longevity of holding off the return. She continued to claim I was just having buyers remorse even when presenting with phtoos and evidence to be deemed inauthentic
brooklynbski
@leexin OMG YES!!!! That’s one of the posh ambassadors that everything is fakes. There’s like 5 more with all the exact stuff for sale and some of them use the same pics. I think they pull it off cause they are ambassadors. Every time I see one of their bags I report it and they never take the listing down. Cant trust this site unless you really really know the product well.
ticklemeki
So poshmark is aware of this seller selling fake items, and didn’t show down their page?
And titles them as an ambassador?
leexin
@ticklemeki no, ambassadors are based off of how many sales you make and how often you share your listings and other people’s. I was on my way to becoming one during the height of covid when I had most of my sales. It’s not as “exclusive” as they make it out to be, and they took down this seller’s particular bag they sold me off Poshmark once deemed fake. (Since she had multiple they took the entire listing down)

Thank you soooooo much!!! They almost got me just now…. Glad I came across this post!

If it says "the Marc Jacobs" on the top is it fake?
carmenmd_
May you please look at mdimayo's listings because he has a lot of bags listed and I was looking at buying one but the font of the top looks fake
leexin
@carmenmd_ personally his bags look fake to me because of:
1. The slightly blurry pictures
2. The quantity he’s selling. He has a good amount of bags he’s selling, and the same style. This is a red flag 🚩 many sellers that sell large amounts shift the blame on “whole sale” which’s a whole lot of bs for “I got it in China town”
3. The font doesn’t look right to me on the dustbag :/
4. If the price is too good to be true… it probably is
leexin
@vlmyerss personally I’d be wary, can yoy shoot me the username so I can take a look at the bag?
carmenmd_
@leexin thank you so much for your help!!
mgsclosetllc
thank you for that educational information

Just wanted to add that some bags that say “Marc Jacobs New York” at the top say only “The Marc Jacobs” or “Marc Jacobs” on the inside (I don’t remember which)

Thank you so much for your time sharing these tips here with us. I just recently bought a MJ White Moon bag from an ambassador seller. Could you be able to tell if it was authentic if I provide you the seller's username? You can still view the sold items on their listings. Thanks so much again!
teresia_k
Is your bag for sale? Or is this an educational post only?
iberis09
thanks for this.! i already spotted 2 (rather bad) fakes on “the m site” 1 is advertised as 100% authentic. i’m on the search for a mj snapshot. you’ve provided me with valuable help..
shirleybaker945
Thank you so much for this information. I recently purchased a bag which I now think is fake. I love the bag nonetheless but will be looking for the obvious signs more closely in the future. Your post will help me and others to identify obvious fakes in the future. Thanks a million! ❤️
miloali2552
@brooklynbski I agree. Also, went to this authenticator site and they were comparing a pebbled leather bag to a saffiano. Also, they stated that the zipper pull that has the horizontal "Marc Jacobs" on the side was fake, and that's not true.
lhoward123
Thank you for this. I wish people would stop advertising fake bags as real ones, smh. It’s terrible.
