@nelliefanelli hi there! let me explain best i can:
1) The design of this top is bias cut, where fabric shifts and can accomodate additional width.
2) The pit to pit measurement goes from 17 inches ( measured across, pit to pit, while on hanger, not stretched) to 21 inches approx when stretched horizontally at bust level.
