bonniesueh @msmeem I'm confused as well. Are you sure this isn't plated gold? Rhodium turns yellow gold to white gold. It is not recommended for yellow gold.

bonniesueh @msmeem Rhodium is only used to make white gold whiter or yellow gold white and when used on yellow gold it wears off rather quickly, peels off essentially like paint to reveal the yellow gold under. Rhodium is in white gold it's a precious metal comprised in white gold. So if your ring is rhodium plated the gold would no longer be yellow.

I know what rhodium is ... and yes it just makes yellow gold white cuz it’s white .. but it does add a layer of protection .. and ur right it can peel or wear off esp on rings .. maybe I misspoke but not sure when? Better check my closet lol not sure where ur comments coming from ?

bonniesueh @msmeem You describe the ring 14K Yellow gold and clearly it is yellow. I'm wondering if it's solid 14k gold or 14k gold plated over 925

msmeem @bonniesueh im taking it to a jeweler I’ve been working on it for several hours .. it’s a vintage Ring & I just noticed the diamonds are actually rough cut diamonds! It over a carat so I want more info on it before I sell it but there are “ p”’s on the white part so I’m thinking platinum, this isn’t a cheap ring so I’d rather get a pro look at it 👍🏼☺️” always learning “👍🏼will update ya when I know more

bonniesueh @msmeem Good! Just want to know what I'm potentially buying. "P" stands for plumb. That mark verifyies the gold content is what it says it is, in this case 14k. Platinum is stamped PT or PLAT followed by 950 or 999-being the purist of Platinum.

bonniesueh @msmeem I figured they were Rough cut which is why I offered what I did. Rough cut are as they were in the earth. Not cleaned, polished or cut to enhance sparkle. They are the least expensive of all diamonds.

msmeem @bonniesueh first ur continued implications of my ring being “ cheap” to justify your lowball offers are not enticing whatsoever. I did get some clarification from a jeweler yesterday on it, the ring is most certainly vintage from approx 1800’s, it is platinum under the gold not silver ( he tested it after Using a Dremel on a small portion of the gold) & the diamond clarity is exceptional esp since way fewer facets. I won’t be selling this ring anytime soon sorry

msmeem @bonniesueh after removing a portion of the gold the Plat appears .. I’ll show I the finished product when he’s done & after his research. Thank for bringing my attention to it however all of this would have gone unnoticed. I inherited a lot of jewelry from my godmother that lived in France for 25 yrs after WW2. So thanks again 👍🏼

msmeem @bonniesueh FYI I made a faux pas stating rhodium plating initially, but I’ve studied the AJU @ taken a few courses online ref jewelry so I am well versed in gems & their quality especially collections & their makers. Because of the “ sustainable circular economy” Richemont & LVMH refer to ethical resourcing as in pure deception in repurposing vintage jewelry and creating shill cos 4 marketing purposes& greed. FYI might want to look it up & do some research you will be pretty shocked!

It’s pretty sad .. I only had the opportunity to do a lot of research stir crazy taking care of my dad in hospice bedridden for over 10 months.. boy did I discover & learn a lot! Crazy , huh?

msmeem Btw I misspoke again , there’s a mixture of semi rough cut & single cut in the ring he was shocked that the gems had such clarity with such few facets, only 17 vs 58 in mele if the 21st century, he also found the words Comfort Tiffany on the rings interior !! I was having a heart attack! Lol I can’t wait to see the finished product he said it was more than likely disguised during the war as was a lot of designer jewelry to prevent being looted! 😳

Insults. I never said your ring was cheap I said rough cut is least valuable of diamonds and I did not Google. I also said it definitely wasn't Rhodium plated as you had claimed then later you retracted. I know a thing or two about jewerly and most of your statements were inconsistent and erroneous.

I'm Jewish from a family of survivors and never heard that women rushed to cover platium with gold, the Germans took it all - platium, gold, silver, regardless so that was no protection. I’m learning as I go but I’m confident that I’m definitely more versed on both WW’s especially since I’m a veteran w/a former TS/SBI !
