starrsdar @waywardclothing Thank you. Do you have any tips for photographing longer items like pants and dresses? I’ve found it challenging to get a good detailed picture that fits in the crop box.

starrsdar @theeclecticeye Thank you! Do you have any tips for photographing longer items? I have some great vintage Ann Taylor and Betsey Johnson dresses that I’m having trouble getting good photos of that will fit into the square cropping box. Thanks for any tips!

theeclecticeye @starrsdar It depends on the item, the other tips are definitely great (collage app & doing 2 pics, using a whiteboard behind the shot)! For the items I want a full shot for, I try the following until I get a shot I like, lol: - I use my cell phone camera (iPhone) & set it to the "square" setting so I can take pics & know the whole item will be 'in frame' - I always use some kind of plain, light colored (cont)

theeclecticeye backdrop (can use plain colored sheets) - I try to use a mannequin for any item that will fit, & then simply start to play with distances (mannequin to backdrop, you to mannequin) until I get the whole item in the square frame. - without a mannequin, I've hung the item on a plain colored wall, & then tacked up the item to make it look "right", so it's not simply hanging there. Then, it's a matter of backing up until I can hopefully get the whole item in frame.... Hope this helps! :-)

waywardclothing @starrsdar That's a little tricky. I use my phone so taking photos of myself is even more of a 'learning curve' ive found the best thing is to take a picture from low and shoot up (the angle is more flattering) I don't want to invest in equipment so I just rest it against a low cardboard box. I

waywardclothing have a popsocket so the phone rests there and I use the better camera (rear facing) to take a timed photo with an upwards tilt. I feel like that was confusing but its the best angle and shot ive found for pants and full body
