Meet your Posher, Heather

Hi, I'm Heather. I am a self taught acrylic painter from Nebraska. I started painting in 2016 following a 10 year infertility journey with my husband. After multiple rounds of clomid, prolonged illnesses, and 3 failed adoptions, I had a hysterectomy in April of 2016 at 38. It was discovered I had a 17 pound fibroid that was the cause for our difficulties,we named the fibroid "Frank." 🤷‍♀️🙄 A few months later I started painting and as I was learning how to do proportions, differentiate values, use colors I understood this is what I needed to do. This was going to become the child I would raise, the child I could help to give voice to. In finding this voice I started with a complex idea. "What does it mean to be a woman?" After this ordeal we had experienced, I felt my voice was not heard nor listened to. Noone should have to deal with this. But, sadly too many of us do!  Society puts Women into invisible Boxes. We are expected to conform to a certain look, width, color, shape, etc. This is the thought that inspired my early works which I loving call, "Square faced ladies" As my painting journey progressed I went down many artistic paths. I hope you enjoy my journey over the last 8 years.
