Hi there! I'm Laci and I live in Ohio. I'm a former fashion student, current seamstress. I love secondhand and vintage clothing. To combat my love for clothes and lack of closet space, I chose to sell the items I do not want anymore. I try to be as transparent as possible for my listings and show as many pictures as necessary. I am able to answer any questions and willing to consider offers! šŸ¦šŸ¦šŸ¦

gracerosko29 Hi! Iā€™m planning on attending Ursuline College for fashion merchandising; and I was wondering if you had any thoughts about how the program was!

a_little_birdie @gracerosko29 Hi, Grace! This will be long, so you might want to take a minute, lol. You've come to the right person as fashion merch. was my major at UC! The fashion program is super small & you'll know your classmates & professors on a personal level. You'll start out with sewing classes, so of you don't know how to sew, practice a little during the summer (but don't be intimidated; I knew very little when I first started & sewing is all I ever do now lol)

a_little_birdie @gracerosko29 Your merch. classes will be taught by Mrs. Beard; I didn't really like her teaching style, but with a small class, asking questions isn't too scary. You'll probably do a few illustration classes, which were fun (imagine drawing clothes as homework!). I suggest looking up some tutorials online (Zoe Hong on YouTube is like the queen of fashion illustration). Since the fashion dept. is so small, you might take a few design classes & end up liking them. ALSO: Be prepared to model!

a_little_birdie @gracerosko29 With our annual fashon show & comminity fashion shows, you will be up on that runway at least 2/3 times a year, but they are super fun & you get to wear items from the historic costume collection that no one else is allowed to wear. I worked as the fashion department student assistant for 2 years & that really helped with money & job experience. Dr. K is the department head & she is super nice & a really easy teacher, but she does get carried away with her stories

a_little_birdie @gracerosko29 Mrs. Knaus will most likely be your teacher & advisor & she is really good, easy, & nice. UC was my home away from home & since it is a small campus, you will get to know everyone pretty quickly. I lived in the dorms (Grace Hall) & that connected me to the community even better. Getting a workstudy job & joining a student organization (+ your volleyball team) will really help you to meet new people & be more involved.

a_little_birdie @gracerosko29 I have a really good volleyball friend, Hannah, who is so genuine and nice, I'm sure you will he friends in no time. Time management is key though, so set up a good study schedule your first week. Ursuline is very dear to me, so if you have any concerns, questions, or need advice, I'm here! Congrats, by the way on getting in! šŸ’—šŸ’•ā¤šŸ¦ (Sorry that this was so long, but this is so exciting!)

gracerosko29 @a_little_birdie Ahhh!!!! Thank you so much for the advice, I am SO excited!!! If you donā€™t mind me asking, did you have good luck finding a job out of college? Also, did you take the spring semesters in New York? Thank you so SO much for the response, it means so much!!! ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

a_little_birdie @gracerosko29 Of course, happy to help! šŸ’• For me, I moved back home after graduation since I didn't have the means to stay in Cleveland. I started looking for a job my last semester & got one pretty quick at my local alteration shop. The last class you will take will be all about how to get your 1st job. The "final" for that class was speed interviews with local fashion businesses who are *actually* looking to hire people, so if you live in the Cleveland area, that will help.

a_little_birdie @gracerosko29 I'm pretty sure my friend got a job from it. As for New York, you have the opportunity to take a semester at FIT, but I'm pretty sure that is for your junior year & you have to have the right credits. I didn't do it, so I can't tell you much, but your advisor, Mrs. Knaus, can tell you all about it. One of my classmates did it & ended up staying there. The fashion department does field trips too for class credits & I know they go to New York sometimes (but it's crazy expensive)

a_little_birdie @gracerosko29 That is so nice to hear! I will look forward to hearing from you. Ursuline was my first and only choice college and I am so grateful for my experience there and I miss it all the time. ā¤ Hopefully everything will "go back to normal" so you can have a good start in the fall. I got familiar with a lot of the staff in my 4 years, so if you mention me, there might be a few stories. šŸ˜‰
