I am a born again believer, a Vegan and love minimalist backpacking .One day I would love to have a sanctuary for animals that are rescued from slaughter. pralinequeen @lavenderfarm I love to study the bible, I researched a lot and found a translation from the original scrolls. It was written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. I used to listen to some, but it seemed they were teaching their ideas and things not in the bible. Narrow and cramped is the road leading off to life and few are the ones finding it, where broad and spacious is the road leading off to destruction

He wanted for God to prove his chosen people the"Israelites" to defeat this huge Ethiopian army "ungodly people". That's so wonderful. :-) I'm a vegetarian and all of my ducks are rescued. Two of them rescued from slaughter and one was my rescue when I did wildlife work. I hope one day that you'll have that sanctuary. :-)

I feel it would be a microscopic penance for the atrocities humans inflict on helpless innocent animals.

teresamckevitt @lavenderfarm Thank you for the info. I'll have to look him up. I have not been the SASHA but I bet it's probably like a farm we have here called Animal Place. They shelter and rescue a lot of animals from slaughter and abused animals. I worked with 2 different local wildlife groups. Sacramento Wildlife for about 5 years and Gold Country for 2. I had to quit when I was pregnant with my son and my own animals needed more attention as well. I have 7 Blue-naped Mousebirds, 3 ducks and a tortoise!

teresamckevitt @lavenderfarm Here in CA, I was so upset to find out today that earlier this year, the law that kept it illegal to sell Foie Gras (duck liver) was overturned. It's still illegal to perform Foie Gras but it's now legal to sell it. I was so excited when it had become a law in 2012. It was such a huge step for the future. It was only one step but huge. I can't believe they overturned it thanks to a Federal Judge, A Foie Gra Producer, and Restaurant Owner...

teresamckevitt @lavenderfarm My avian vet has gone to visit the Foie Gras farms... It's a terrible method. If you see the videos, you'll see what I mean. Same thing goes with the method of getting down feathers for our pillows and comforters... So sad.

teresamckevitt @lavenderfarm My story is very similar. I was actually sick for years (when I was older). It was gradual... I would get sick after every meal and I kept on trying to weed out food allergies on my own. My doctor thought I just had some infection and kept on giving me antibiotics. After a while, I just lived with being sick. Keep in mind, I've been eating the same foods that I ate as a child never having food allergies growing up...

teresamckevitt @lavenderfarm After I had my son, my body completely rejected specific foods and I was just vomiting like I had a flu that wouldn't go away. I went to my doctor again and she did a blood test. What do you know... I was highly allergic to chicken meat and eggs.

teresamckevitt @lavenderfarm People are shocked to hear it and some do not believe me till I pull up my allergy blood test online. I'm happy though. I did not grow up vegetarian but I wish I did. So oddly enough... Thank you to my allergies. ;-) Now my whole household are vegetarians.

teresamckevitt @lavenderfarm And yes, you are so right. Foie Gras is just a disgusting process. I can't even imagine my ducks going through that. I read one person's comment on a news article regarding Foie Gras, saying the ducks were evolved to handle it. Ha ha. What a joke! That's why they get fatty liver disease and get sick. People like that make me so upset.

teresamckevitt @lavenderfarm I know. It took a long time for my body to adjust without antibiotics. After I avoided my allergies, everything was perfect. I think my doctor and I were both kind of shocked at the results but thank goodness we now know. Also, since I'm allergic to eggs, I actually do eat more vegan foods.

lavenderfarm @teresamckevitt I know, sometimes I think over how me being obese and feeling sick pushed me to rethink what I put in my body because I firmly believe we are what we eat. Oh haha😒sure ducks are evolved! You know what's hilarious? Cavemen would roast animal carcasses and eat them but now folks wear professional clothes, act all distinguished and do the same and call the human race to be all evolved and civilized.

If you put my son, ducks and apple slices together in one room, my son will play with the ducks and feed the ducks the apple. ;-) He is 3 years old and loves animals. He is always concerned when their food dishes are empty. He'll bring me their dish and ask to fill them up. That's probably why my duck is so fat and spoiled.

Have Pineapple sage, Orange Mint, Russia sage, Lemon Balmoral, Lemon grass, peppermint, spearmint, basil, parsley and of course my ever favorite Lavender going now. teresamckevitt @lavenderfarm I've been planting my tomatoes and replacing some flowers that did not make it in the heat. I also have Lemon Balm, Lavender, Parsley, Tomatoes and lots of Aloe. I love Pineapple sage!! I don't have any right now but I used to. It smelled wonderful and I had used it for a vegetarian BBQ. I'll have to get some this week...

lavenderfarm @teresamckevitt I keep harvesting and drying my herbs in my kitchen. Goal is to have enough herbs for the winter.We have a huge mulberry tree and its a contest between me and the birds, I love mulberries! BTW on your posting I saw this branch with origami birds? So awesome! I went immediately and got a branch to dry it and try it. Did you make that one yourself?

They love them too.:-) I heard that if you got a fake snake or owl, that would keep the birds from coming into your fruit tree. I'm not sure how well that works though... They are clever and will figure it out after a while.

rrhaefner @lavenderfarm I have Siberian kale mixed greens edible wildflowers potatoes horseradish sugar pumpkins carrots pole beans onions garlic and my all time favorite & part of my photography hobby about 20 dif types of sunflowers everything from skyscrapers about 12' tall to Italian white which have white petals plus a special garden bed that attracts hummingbirds. I love growing our veggies & there is no comparison to store bought. I share with all my neighbors lol

mysticalblue I mainly use the app PhotoGrid, it's in the Apple Store because I have an iPhone and my computer isn't working right now, but I'm sure it's probably in the Google store if you have android. rrhaefner @lavenderfarm absolutely. Wonderful to hear from you. We are now eating our beautiful greens & the sugar snaps are incredible this yr. I pick them & put them in a bowl & my dogs love them so much they will eat half of them. The most amazing morning is early sun barely rising & in the garden eating sugar snaps right off the vine. It's quiet & peaceful just a sense if oneness with my world the sun sky soul birds and all my garden flowers I feel at complete peace

Coco just started laying eggs again. She likes to eat more during egg laying and has been begging and begging for treats regularly. Of course she's spoiled and gets what she wants. ;-)

lavenderfarm @lorimccullough I most sincerely agree that animals are our Lord's creation and He put them here alongside us. However I choose to refuse to torture them to sustain me. I simply don't need to participate in inflicting pain on a sentient being to nourish me. If it was indeed that there is something lacking in plant based cruelty free diet which only non vegan food could provide me, I understand that.

lavenderfarm @lorimccullough A simple example is how we view pups and dogs, we raise them with affection, feed them out of our basic human desire to nourish, we cry if they feel pain, we feel joy when they grow up and give birth to little pups, we mourn at their demise. Thats what I see in ALL animals.I choose to not discriminate between them to use them for my own needs.
