Hi my name is Katie (@kwdiva). I love fashion and broadway!! I'm 16 years old and a junior in high school! I do online school. I'm currently on the organ list for an intestinal transplant which will happen in Pittsburgh! Even if I'm in the hospital I love to add a bit of style!! I'm also a make a wish kid! kwdiva @ttaelor yeh the intestinal transplant is called a small bowel transplant too!! Thts crazy I've only met one other person who has a similar situation! I've never met someone the same age either!! Best of luck to tht family😘!! Thanks it's been a life long battle so we r ready for a change lol! Pittsburgh looks a like a great city! The children's hospital was rlly great!

I know all the nurses and doctors here in wis so it was so different for me not to know or anyone or where we were going when I went for the eval. Btw you are gorgeous and your tattoos are so cool! Sorry to hear about urge house fire! I want to get a tattoo that says no day but today but id have to get it before the transplant cuz you can't get it after but not sure my parents would let me do tht lol.

kwdiva @charms342 I'm sure it can get really stressful!! I know a few times my mom has snapped on the nurses if they are the one who delivers bad news rather than the doctor. So hats off to you and all the nurses out there cuz your job is not easy!!

charmingdawn @kwdiva I def hate giving bad news ESP when I call family at home since it's mandatory for us to let family and the doctor know of any updates. I've been yelled at and questioned quite a lot by doctors and family. Haha! You need to have a strong composure all the time.

kwdiva @charms342 I could only imagine what it would be like to deliver bad news. We are always on the receiving side and all the nurses defiantly keep their composure and try to answer as many questions as possible. The only thing annoys me is our hospital is a teaching hospital so when residents come in and not read my history and ask me questions of my birth thts about when I loose my composure lol.

kwdiva @charms342 in June I had internal bleeding and I have a jtube and the did the scoop through tht and they cut a guide wire tht they weren't suppose to cut and part of it broke off and perforated my intestine and throughout tht stay we had about six residents/ docs who didn't read the history and it was so frustrating!! They would come in and not know why we were even there!

kwdiva @charms342 I was diagnosed before tht. I've had pseudo obstruction well there's a rlly long name tht I know but can't think of it right now but anyways I've had it since birth. Like they thought it could be this but weren't sure and then it turned out it was.

I'm not too huge a fan of turtle necks either lol but id still wear just about anything lol cowl necks are super chic to me lol. That gray cardigan looked so comfy. The majority of my cardigans tend to be gray. I always get gray, don't know why lol.

There are some things with the transplant team that aren't so good, like when they call you for the organs you have to get out there as soon as possible. They have us numbers for companies that have jets that could take is out there and once we called them they said who is giving you this number, we don't do stuff like that. So that has been really frustrating. Your kind of our your own but hopefully everything goes well for the transplant. We are just waiting for that call. Say hi to all your fellow coworkers for me! kc_shopsnsells @kwdiva - the lab that I work with is non-profit and we are not a hospital lab, so we do on call shifts. So there are times where we will need a current blood draw on recipients that are coming up for an organ. What I dislike about our on call duty is that the lab tech is by themselves doing the cross match testing (usually at night and weekends is when we work solo) and when we need a current sample, sometimes we get difficult blood draw patients 😔.. And when I call their coordinator that I am unable to draw them and we feel so helpless 'cause we are alone there and no one else to help with the draw. Sometimes their coordinator would say, just stick them again! We get furious because now they are not being sensitive or empathic. And we are trying to address to these coordinators that we are not dialysis nurses so we can't just draw from recipient's fistula or port that they have. Yes dealing with transplant coordinators are hard and we're trying our best to also educate them with how our testing goes so that each recipient can be transplanted and treated post transplantation as well. I'll relay your "hi" to the other lab members.

kwdiva @kc_shopsnsells wow that sounds like a difficult job!! I had a port for 7 years and then it got infected and we decided to go with a broviack because we run fluids and tpn 24 hours a day. I hate when I had the port and it would not draw and everyone said just poke her. That upsets me because they didn't even want to try tpa. Like I have a line for reason so I don't have to get poked!!

Cause a lot of us in the lab don't want to make the patient feel like a pin cushion if they have a fistula, port or even a catheter inserted. Since we are not trained to draw from those areas we are asking their coordinator to come in to draw them since they are nurses, but we have a couple coordinators that are so darn difficult to deal with 😩 .. It's nice to meet you by the way 😊

kwdiva @kc_shopsnsells yeh it really hard! Iv shad this since birth so I'm used to everything and I'm ready for a change in life and hopefully the transplant will do that!! I agree with you that the transplant coordinators need to get to know their patients and the families better!! Every single family is different so that means each case is different. You can't treat everyone the same and just do exactly what the book says to do. They have to work on what things work better with different patients.

asianhottie @kwdiva a Neonatal Surgeon :) I've got a long way to go. I can't imagine what it would be like to be in your shoes. It must be very difficult. I find the actual surgery fascinating and I love the whole life saving aspect but I can't imagine being the one on the operating table. I'll be praying for you :) I'm sure you'll get an amazing surgeon in Pittsburg and you'll form new bonds with the doctors and nurses there. I LOVE broadway too btw! Haven't gotten to go see any. It's really cool that you got your wish! Is there anything else in particular that you'd really like to do/see?

asianhottie Oh I heard of that one but I've never seen it. I haven't gotten to really know as many broadways as I would like, Wicked, Annie, Rent, Chicago, Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Lion King..are a few that I know and like (: I was in Beauty and the Beast my senior year. That was really fun. I have an great uncle who is in the broadway performing arts industry in New York and an uncle who's was in cats for 10 years and is now directing lion king in germany. What are some shows that you really love? No i didn't =\ I've been so busy haha haven't been able to sit down and watch much of anything.

kwdiva @asianhottie those are some great musicals!! That's so cool that you have family in the theatre industry!! Rent is my all time favorite but I also love wicked, rock of ages, american idiot, lion king, beauty and the beast and Mary poppins. I like more modern musicals. Beauty and the beast was my first broadway tour that I saw and it was amazing! So cool that you got to be in it!! I just jersey boys a few weeks ago because a friend had an extra ticket and I like it a lot more than I thought I would. Too bad you missed the tony awards! I was in the hospital when it was on and some of my fav nurses would come in and watch some of it when they weren't busy lol. Actually I just bought tickets to see ghost the musical. Hopefully we don't get the call for the transplant before that. I would be so upset!

kwdiva @tiainwonderland that's true lol. Online school is nice cuz there is no high school drama. I'll be 17 later this month so maybe if I get the transplant soon I could go back to school for my senior year which would be some what nice. I agree with you, boys are definitely stupid and selfish lol. It's nice to meet you btw😘!

kwdiva @iloveericj hey! I think the box you got would work. If you go to the post office and show them the prepaid shipping label they Gould be able to show you what box to use and where they usually are. How that helps!!

kissmymissy @kwdiva I saw that after scrolling through your listings. I'm from Fox Point. I went to USM and Nicolet. My husband and I are thinking of moving back, as I miss the Lake. I have life-threatening breast cancer, and I can't imagine what you're going through. You must have a tough spirit. I'm guessing your condition is terminal if you don't get the transplant by a specific date? I'd think there'd be a high rejection rate of the organ you need.

kissmymissy @kwdiva You are so beautiful Katie. Reading up on your disease made me so sad. I am out of town getting a second opinion on my cancer and I've been thinking and praying for you. I imagine your parents are very strong people. My children are; Simon, 22; Miriam, 19; and Zack, 14. The boys had to have their spleens removed because of spherocytosis and seeing Simon gaunt and in pain at the age of 8 crushed me. I'm sure your parents feel the same when they see you in hospital. My dad stopped working to take of me so he's like my nurse haha and my mom works to keep insurance. Your kids are very lucky to have you as their mom. Your amazing! :)
