Late 90’s - incredibly soft leather - bomber style coat. Lightly Insulated. Two tone leather inset pattern of black with brown trim. European zipper (“reversed” like a woman’s zipper in the US.) Elastic on waist is tight. I purchased this in 1998 at Ogilvy’s in Montreal - one of the best known high-end clothing stores in the world. Original retail was over $1,000 ca! I’ve actually only worn this twice because it was so expensive and it’s so nice I didn’t want to damage it. Own and wear something truly unique!

mbkavanaugh @jeremy_thompson Hi Jeremy! This is absolutely an awesome jacket! It’s easily the most expensive piece of clothing I’ve ever owned. The leather is unbelievably soft. I was actually afraid to wear it - that’s why it’s in such great shape. I’ll comment more than once, there’s a character limit on these comments...

mbkavanaugh @jeremy_thompson I hate to sound dumb here but I’m not sure how to measure this. I wear a 40 regular jacket (suit etc). This coat is big and loose in the shoulders and chest and stomach area - I could weigh 50 lbs more and I think it would fit. I’m 5’10” 160lbs athletic build. However, the waist elastic is very tight. I’m about 32” on my hips and it’s tight. Could be altered by a good tailor OR just don’t zip it up?

mbkavanaugh @jeremy_thompson there is a very slight discoloration on one of the shoulders - just about impossible to spot unless youre looking - rain came in a car window and hit it. The leather is that nice - you don’t want to get this wet if you can avoid it.

jeremy_thompson Thanks, @mbkavanaugh. Very helpful. I'm also 5'10" and weigh around 175. That said, I am looking for a leather jacket that's fairly fitted so I'm not sure if the loose fit would be right for me. I'll give it some more thought.

mbkavanaugh @jeremy_thompson gotcha - sadly this coat is very loose as was the style when it was in stores. Did you see the other leather coat I have listed? That one is very nice too - fits like a shirt or non-tailored sport coat. I really like that one too but I just don’t ever seem to wear brown. Thanks for your interest regardless. If you can find a tailor that works with leather, I’ll bet you could have the Ogilvys coat altered and slimmed down? The detail on it is amazing. Have a great day!

mbkavanaugh @jeremy_thompson one more thing Jeremy, depending on the size of your waist, the black coat you are not going to want to actually zip up. I never did - only wore it “open” so it hung well. The bottom elastic is just too tight - and makes it “balloon” up too much. If you’re ok letting it “hang” unzipped I think you’re fine but I doubt you’d ever want to zip it up.
