Mid Century American Wood Shoe Mold Bookends - a Pair This is a wonderful pair of Mid Century American Wood Shoe Mold Bookends crafted from actual Wood Shoe Molds. The molds are vintage from the 1950's and American made from a woman's shoe. These molds were used to make handmade shoes. Each mold would be custom-made for every customer who came into the cobbler and would be used over and over for that particular customer. It was a high-end client who only wanted custom shoes. This set shows that the customer had two different sized feet - size 8 and size 8.5. The molds have the makers' marks and sizes impressed onto the surfaces. The patina has a fabulous worn look as do the metal bases. The pieces measure approximately 10.5" high by 4.5" wide by 6 " in depth. The bookends are in good vintage condition Both book ends are in good vintage condition with wear associated with vintage items which in this case only enhance the appeal.
