The spoon trick works! Sometimes I warm maple syrup & serve from a crystal pitcher; the spoon distributes the heat so the glass won’t crack!

Absolutely: it really does; I travelled extensively in Egypt, India, and throughout the middle east; and enjoyed scalding coffee and tea in very delicate glass like the ones above some of them were ensconced in some kind of metal filigree: the above are very special looking with the thick handles at the bottom-they make an amazing presentation served on a silver tray.
