All of our wood cut items do initially come with a wood burnt odor. We do try to do a deodorized method before shipping, however once the item is sealed in the shipping packages the odor can resurface. The odor does dissipate over time once out in the air. The products used on these are a non toxic stain and sealed with a water based sealant.
