Mother Mary with Children Tin Pocket Shrine/Nico

This is a repurposed and altered Tin Shrine or Nic. Often referred to as a pocket shrine, travelshrine, portable shrine, travel altar or prayer tin. A traditional Nico isfrequently used as an extension of a family altar, venerating a favorite saint. Similar to a shadow-box, Nicos may combine elements of Catholicism, indigenous beliefs, and contemporary culture. I re-purposed and altered this tin combining mixed-media and assemblage.
