Research Pays! When I found this piece of art history, I heard there was another that had sold for $1600! It’s RARE!! The only other sale I’ve found. Y2K The purse is made from Copperhead snake leather from the planned one from Thailand but used a Chinese substitute for the sample. This comes from my research of Minkoff’s planning for this line of bags. She was known for mid line bags but THIS WAS WHAT WOULD CHANGE HER COMPANY! Real leather juxtaposed against hard metal and angles! It’s The Sample! See tag! I found only one more and it sold for $1600! Price became a problem for mass production and research shows she went to printed leather of the Copperheads in mass production. The use of metal and zippers tracks from this piece too! I spent a couple of days tracking down pieces, not all with original cost. But prices I found were expensive when actual snake was used. So I present this beautiful clutch! I’ve added a metal/leather strap. The leather is extremely delicate and will be damaged if carried as a clutch. It has been conditioned to restore the supple leather to new condition. I feel confident it’s a rare find and, as a jewelry designer, I know a piece I’d love to produce but cost gets in the way. However, it becomes one of a kind. Or art. Priced at lowest I will accept! Happy to keep and enjoy-and share the story! However her designs still make her items valuable! For future investments do not overlook Minkoff vintage bags!
